Golden Key International Honour Society

A TRULY GOLDEN DAY

Wednesday 7th of November 2012 was pretty special, both for UUM and CIAC. In a ceremony held at the Convention Centre,  38 students received their certificates of membership to Golden Key International Honour Society (GKIHS).

GKHIS  is an international not-for-profit organisation that recognises and rewards academic achievement at over 400 universities around the world. Its mission is to enable members to realise their potential through the advancement of academics, leadership and service. Membership comprises academic achievers, and only the top 15% of students and graduates are eligible.

And so it was that on this day, CIAC helped to celebrate the induction of 38 students who had chosen to join GKIHS. Their decision indeed is a wise one and reflective of their intuition and foresight of the benefits that GKIHS can bring.

Golden Key  supports academic excellence by recognising academic achievement, providing scholarships, and rewarding members with benefits through the Society?s website, partner organisations and on-campus initiatives. More than USD 1,000,000 annually in scholarships and awards are available to its members along with a variety of other opportunities. There are also great networking and leadership opportunities at regional and international conferences as well as the various chapter activities, such as community service initiatives.

Members have access to a host of personal and professional development opportunities provided by Golden Key and partner organisations including the Golden Key Careers Library (powered by Vault), the Golden Key financial literacy training, and many more.

The Director of CIAC, Associate Professor Dr. Hijattulah Abdul Jabbar, representing the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni) in his speech, congratulated the students and hoped that they would keep abreast with Golden Key and the host of opportunities the society avails. Ms. Eliza Abbas, the representative for Golden Key (Malaysia Chapter) hoped that more students in the top 15% category would join and enticed the current members to spread the word around. Ms Padmini Pillai, Golden Key Advisor for UUM read the charge after all the new members had been inducted. Several senior staff also attended this ceremony which ended with light refreshments.

It was a delight for CIAC to meet the cr?me de la cr?me of UUM.
